Finally It’s Over

This Tablet has a very different start from the rest of the text, as the other Tablets continue narrating the story, this Tablet starts from another point where the reader is not very conscious of what is going on. Gilgamesh's drum hadn't been mentioned in the text, and at this final point it has a very important position, as it is what actually helps Gilgamesh and Enkidu get in touch. The drum is an important piece that is very valuable to Gilgamesh and the meaning of it is that it's one of the only opportunities he has to make Enkidu help him from the Nether World.

Gilgamesh is startled with the concept of death, and with the occasion of being able to know some facts of what happens to the dead people he doesn't waste the small amount of time with Enkidu. As Gilgamesh convinces Ea to bring Enkidu back with his drum, he takes advantage of his knowledge of the Nether World and asks many questions about what might happen to him if he ever dies. This last Tablet concludes very well the story, but I still have a small doubt, What happened to Gilgamesh after, did he finally die or was he accepted into the god community?

Luisa- What are we to make of things like the drum? Please avoid plot summary. Moreover, where's the text?

How could you answer your own last question?
